5th Class Draughts Competition
Mr. Mc Kiernan’s 5th class took part in a draughts competition amongst themselves. Draughts is a board game that develops many qualities such as concentration, decision making, strategy and problem-solving. The children were drawn into groups with the top 2 of each group progressing to a Champions League knock-out tournament and the bottom 2 progressing to a Europa League knock-out tournament. There was a lot of skill on show and some very entertaining matches. Eventually the cream came to the top and we were left with two very deserving winners.
