First Class Follow the Swallows

First class noticed swallow birds nesting, feeding and flying at Kentstown NS and at home. We learned all about their amazing migration journey of 9,500km to South Africa in Autumn and how they return to us in Spring.

We read ‘Follow the Swallow’ by Julia Donaldson. We talked about countries they would fly over and what the swallows might see on their journey. Some children noticed swallows flying low and eating flying insects in the evening before the sun goes down. We created Art and wrote swallow facts.

When will the swallows leave Kentstown? We think the weather is changing and it is time for them to migrate together!
