Forces Experiment in 2nd and 3rd class

This week in science, the children in second and third class have been learning about forces. As a result of the windy weather we have had this week, we decided to design kites. Using these kites, we would plan an experiment to investigate the affect the wind would have on them.

Second and third class first explored what materials should be used to create a kite that would be able to fly in the wind. We made our predictions: Do you think your kite will fly? – and carried out our investigation outside.

After sharing our observations, we concluded that kites made of straws, card and wool were most successful at flying and were stronger than kites made of other materials.

Well done to all of our scientists in second and third class!
