5th Class have been learning about the Great Irish Famine with Mr. Treanor over the past 2 weeks. They learned that the famine caused emigration to places like Glasgow, Liverpool, America and Australia. “Coffin ships” were used to transport the emigrants to these destinations. The artwork below shows coffin ships leaving Ireland and sailing into the sunset.
