LEINSTER CHAMPIONS

Leinster Champions

Kentstown NS were crowned Leinster Primary 5 aside champions last Wednesday after coming through some tough games.

First up the Meath and North Leinster champions played the Dublin champions Gaelscoil Colmcille. The game was very tight between 2 even teams. However, Kentstown took their chances and ended up leading 3-0 at half time. A second half goal made it 4-0. However, Gaelscoil Colmcille weren’t giving up and rallied late with 3 quick fire goals to set up a nervy finish. However, Kentstown hung on to claim a 4-3 win.

Next up were the Kildare and mid-Leinster champions, Scoil Choca Naofa. Scoil Choca Naofa started quicker in the game and had some early chances only to be denied by our goalkeeper. These early scares kicked Kentstown into gear as they went toe to toe with the Kilcock based school. We scored 2 goals to give us a 2-0 halftime lead. The second half again was a very tight and even encounter. Two more goals gave us a 4-0 lead. Scoil Choca Naofa struck back with a goal, but we ensured that there would be no nervy finish this time by scoring two late goals to eventually win 6-1.

Kentstown’s final game was against Carlow and South Leinster Champions, Ballon NS. Despite being under serious pressure early on, Kentstown took the lead. However, Ballon NS struck back immediately to leave the score 1-1 at half time. In the second half, we controlled the game a bit more and added on 2 goals to ultimately win 3-1.

And with that Kentstown NS were crowned Leinster champions. Thank you yo all the support that we received on the day and especially to our school community who gave us a great welcome on our return to Kentstown. We now look forward to the All-Ireland finals on the 29th May in the Aviva Stadium.
